Forest Hill Suburb and Real Estate Information
The boundaries of Forest Hill are difficult to define. They run around many minor residential roads, with a southern annexe that includes Channel 10 Studios and Peter James Medical Centre. It straddles Canterbury Road east/west, and Springvale Road north and south. Neighbouring suburbs include Nunawading, Blackburn, Blackburn South, Burwood East and Vermont.
Forest Hill is another eastern residential suburb of Melbourne, 17 KM from the CBD. Its population of 9, 500 lives within in an area of 4.1 KM2
Forest Hill is perhaps best known for the Forest Hill Chase Shopping Centre on Canterbury Road. A pioneer of the regional shopping centre concept which has been eclipsed by the greatly expanded shopping complexes nearby, it still delivers an extensive range of goods and services that meet most needs of local residents.
While Forest Hill only has a single primary school, more primary schools and Forest Hill Secondary College are located just beyond its borders. Trains and trams do not service this suburb but several bus routes pass along the main arterial roads.
Mahoney's Reserve is the focal point for soccer in the area. The popular Aqualink Nunawading centre is close to the Springvale/Canterbury Road intersection.
